Natural chaga burl on a live white birch tree.
Chaga (or skitogan, as called by Native Americans), mushrooms are used to make an herbal tea, which is thought to have health benefits such as helping to prevent and cure cancer, promoting digestive health, strengthening the body and helping a person to live longer. Chaga mushrooms have one of the highest natural levels of antioxidants found in nature, and they are packed full of many essential vitamins and nutrients.
Chaga mushrooms have very high
levels of vitamins A, C, and E; lycopene; beta carotene; calcium; copper;
zinc; manganese; potassium and iron. They also contain high amounts of
superoxide dismutase, a powerful enzyme that helps to block the free
radical singlet oxygen, which causes major damage to the body's muscles,
organs and other tissues.
Chaga is a large black or brown fungus belonging to the Basidiomycetes family, which grows on birch trees in the cold, northern regions of Scandinavia, Siberia, China and North America. It only grows in the wild, and repeated attempts to cultivate it have all ended in failure. It has been used as a health supplement for centuries by people in Japan, China and Siberia, and it's now approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Russia has recognized chaga as an accepted cancer treatment since the 1950's.
Native Blend gathers our chaga from the wild to offer our customers a nutritious and healthy herbal tea, which resembles a fine black tea in color and flavor. It compliments our line of natural handmade deer tallow soaps, deer tallow lotion bars, herbal salves, lip balms, and herbal teas. Try some, and you'll bask in the glow of health!
